The Monongalia County Quick Response Team (QRT) was launched in 2019 and is a collaboration among public health, first responders, Peer Recovery Support Specialists (PRSS) and other health care and private partners dedicated to providing immediate and longer-term help to those struggling with substance abuse.
We meet weekly to strategize and PRSSs have a goal to meet with anyone who overdoses within 72 hours to connect them to counseling and services.

Naloxone training and distribution
In order for those struggling with substance abuse to receive help, they need to stay alive. The Monongalia County QRT provides naloxone distribution and training to any individual, group, or organization that is interested. If interested in naloxone or naloxone training, reach out to Joe Klass, Assistant QRT Coordinator, at joseph.l.klass@wv.gov or 304-225-0264. Naloxone is also available 24/7 via a free vending machine at Wise Path Recovery Center in Westover.
Also, naloxone standing orders are available to be downloaded below. This allows anyone to purchase naloxone, which reverses an opioid overdose, at a Monongalia County or West Virginia pharmacy, depending on the standing order used.
