Recreational facilities
Note: Includes parks, playgrounds, campgrounds and organized camps (aka summer camps.)
Environmental Health helps protect the health of the citizens of Monongalia County by permitting and inspecting recreational facilities in Monongalia County. Recreational facilities are inspected every six months.
Swimming pools, hot tubs and bathing beaches are permitted and inspected as recreational water facilities.
Parks and playgrounds
Any person that owns a park or playground that is new, being renovated or has a change of ownership must fill out an application:
All parks and playgrounds must follow the West Virginia General Sanitation Regulations
Once the application is approved, you must schedule an inspection with a sanitarian. The sanitarian will inspect your park or playground to make sure that it meets the General Sanitation Regulations and that it can be operated in a safe and sanitary manner.
Parks and playgrounds that will have food service or a pool or hot tub must fill out separate plan review applications for those items.
